Web Design Elements: Focal Points

Moving on to Focal Points in the Web Design Element series, a focal point is the center of interest or activity. Usually made so by it’s size, color, and/or location. If something on the page is big, bright yellow and at the top center it will be the first thing the user will see. Focal points tend to be logos, icon, corporate identification’s (corp id).

Keeping with my site as an example, I have two focal points. First is at the top also know as the header. It’s the character pointing towards my name. Both are the same focal point, because they work together for goal. The caricature was designed by Pasquale and host by WeFunction. The second is my corp id, this is mine own design and has a long story behind it. Its is located in the right side of the site and is coded to stay affixed to browser wall (and if it’s not please post and include you operating system, browser, and screen resolution so I can fix it).
